Terrace Wall Farming

The Problem:

Farmers in hillside regions have a limited amount of surface area and are restricted to the area provided from teraced field construction.

The Solution:

Intensifying the surface area use on terraced hillsides by making use of the surface area found on the terace risers. This area can be used to grow fodder for livestock, nutrient rich human sustinence or income generating products.

Potential crops include:

Livestock Feed  -  Grasses and other fodder can be grown and harvested for livestock feed. The roots from the grasses also adds valuable stability to the soil that helps prevent errosion.

Peas, Beans and Legumes  -  Various forms of climbing legums, beans and peas can be grow on this vertical surface area. this will provide essential nutrients and also add structure to the soil.

Valuable Spices  -  Farmers can also grow valuable spices in this area and then sell the to market as an extra form of income.

Ornemental Flower  -  In less rural areas farmers can grow climbing onremental flowers that can then either be sold to tourists or sold to market an another form of income.
