Intercropping Maize Wtih Legumes

The Problem:

Farmers are not planting maize in evenly spaced rows and terefore are having reduced yields due to lack of equal access to nutrients. This lack of evenly spaced rows makes weeding, irrigating and fertalizing difficult. This also makes intercropping difficult.

The Solution:

Sowing maize in rows will allow for the planting of crops such as legumes which compliment maize growth and greatly reduce the labour needed to maintain a weed free field.
